The Black Box Burlesque
Cabaret is the setting for this tribute to the music of two great singers,
Patsy Cline and Wanda Jackson, performed by two great friends. Swift-Sawyer and
Von Vett are powerhouse singers that will team up for an evening of country and
rockabilly music, unplugged, that will raise the roof.
Swift-Sawyer delights with Patsy Cline favorties “I Fall to Pieces,” “Walking After Midnight” and “Crazy” while Von Vett thrills with Wanda Jackson hits like "Fujiyama Mama," "Let's Have a Party," "Right or Wrong" and "I May Never Get To Heaven."
Melissa Swift-Sawyer is thrilled to be collaborating with dear friend Reyna singing the songs of the beloved Queen of Country Music. “This is definitely a role that is near and dear to my heart.” She starred as Patsy Cline at The Denver Center for the Performing Arts in the long-running “Always… Patsy Cline”. She has performed this role many, many times here in Denver and in several other venues over the past few years. Since “Patsy” closed the first time, Melissa has performed in several shows at The Arvada Center including The Women, Honky Tonk Angels, and Das Barbecu. Other regional credits include Maria in The Sound of Music, Molly in The Unsinkable Molly Brown, Sister Robert Anne in Nunsense and Nunsensations, and Gloria in Damn Yankees.
Reyna Von Vett was the first country singer to perform in the lounge at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino during the National Finals Rodeo with her band, “Reyna and Rock Bottom”. She is an accomplished singer and actress who performed for more than one million guests over three years as Tanya in Mamma Mia! at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas and her solo act, Martini’s and Misbehavin’: a Celebration of the American Songbook has run in many of Las Vegas’ most prestigious hotels. Von Vett opened Leadville or BUST! at the Black Box Burlesque Cabaret in March and that show continues on Friday and Saturday nights at 7:30 p.m. She performed the role of Kaye in The Taffetas at the Denver Center for Performing Arts and led the cast of Swing! at the Colorado Candlelight Dinner Playhouse. Reyna was honored to sing at the 2001 Presidential Inaugural Ball in Washington D.C.
